John E. DavidsonEmployment Lawyer

John has more than 25 years of practice experience, focusing chiefly on two areas of law:

Employment Law

His work includes cases involving unpaid overtime (FLSA), sexual harassment, wrongful discharge, non-compete disputes, and many others. He also advises clients about a wide variety of employment-related concerns, ranging from employment contracts and separation agreements to counseling regarding difficult and sensitive employment problems.

John also has considerable experience assisting doctors and other healthcare providers in matters arising from their employment.  This includes employment contracts, non-competes, internal investigations, and Department of Health Professions issues.

Appeals

His work includes appeals involving personal injury, complex civil litigation, employment, and many other areas of law.  John has handled appeals regarding a wide variety of cutting-edge legal issues.  Previous appeals he has handled involve issues including summary judgment, spoliation of evidence, Medicaid reimbursements in personal injury settlements, bankruptcy, wrongful discharge, sexual harassment, federal conspiracy law, jury selection, expert witnesses, challenges to local court rules, and many others.

Education

John is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was a member of the Virginia Law Review.  Upon graduation, the faculty bestowed upon him the Earle K. Shawe Labor Relations Award as the graduate with the greatest promise in the field of labor relations. Following a clerkship with a federal judge, Mr. Davidson practiced with a large national law firm, McGuireWoods LLP. In 2000, he co-founded Davidson & Kitzmann, PLC with another McGuireWoods lawyer

Much of John’s work comes from referrals from other lawyers, including the family members and personal friends of those lawyers. Most of the rest of his new clients come from referrals from former and current clients, which he is always very pleased to receive. While John is an experienced courtroom lawyer, many of his clients prefer to resolve their matters confidentially outside of court. John is always pleased to help a client achieve the client’s goals with discretion and care.
