Cases We Handle

Our criminal lawyers have more than 40 years of combined experience handling every type of criminal law case. To see a full list, please visit our criminal law page. We often defend UVA students for the following charges, among others:

Serious Consequences

Many of our UVA clients, or their parents, believe that the police or the prosecutors will give students a break or treat them leniently. This is not true; the police and prosecutors will charge and prosecute a student just as quickly as anyone else. If you are charged with underage drinking (also known as underage possession of alcohol), it is important to take the charges seriously. This is a criminal charge, and a conviction will mean you have a criminal record.  In Virginia, a criminal conviction is permanent, and never comes off of your record.  In addition, possible punishments include probation, loss of license, community service and other penalties.  If you wish to preserve your record, you should take the case seriously and consult with legal counsel.

Free Case Evaluation

We offer UVA students free case evaluations. We will be able to discuss the charges you are facing, our fees, and an overview of the services we will be able to provide you. There are options in the law that your defense lawyer may be able to use to get your charges dismissed. This can greatly benefit first-time offenders, as it means his or her record remains clean of criminal convictions. Our office is located in downtown Charlottesville, next to the courthouses. Our criminal lawyers are in the local courts, in front of the local judges, and discussing cases with the local prosecutors several days of every week.
